About Roy

Roy Occhiogrosso brings more than 30 years of experience in communications, media relations, and public affairs to bear on behalf of his clients. For 17 of the past 20 years, Roy was a Managing Director at Global Strategy Group (GSG), where he helped found the Communications arm of the firm, and then helped grow the firm's practice areas in public affairs, strategic communications, media relations, political strategy and public policy for a broad array of political, corporate and advocacy clients at the state and national levels. While there, Roy led successful public affairs campaigns for an array of state and national clients, on a diverse set of important public policy issues, including criminal justice and prison reform, human and civil rights, tax reform, health care, gaming, energy, financial services, and telecommunications. Some of Roy’s clients during that time included the Council of State Governments, the American Bar Association, Love Makes a Family, the CT Conference of Municipalities, Access Health CT, MGM, the CT Water Company, and Comcast. Roy also conceptualized and led a six month celebration campaign in 2014 for The Hartford Courant.

After leaving GSG, Roy formed his own firm – Roy Occhiogrosso LLC – where he continues to conceptualize and implement winning strategies for the same types of issues and clients when he was at GSG. Roy was the chief strategist on Gov. Malloy’s winning gubernatorial run in 2010, a role he reprised on Gov. Malloy’s successful 2014 reelection campaign. Earlier in his career, Roy served as a communications and political strategist for numerous candidates for public office at the local, state and national levels. In 2012, Roy was named one of Connecticut’s “50 Most Influential People” by Hartford Magazine.Roy graduated from UConn with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs. Roy lives in Simsbury, CT with his twin teenage boys, Sam and Ben, and their dogs, Hazel and Furry.
